Free Online PDF Reader That Reads Aloud
Page Aloud turns any PDF into an audiobook in your browser. Drop a document above and
listen to it with natural voices, sentence highlighting, and smart paragraph detection.
Nothing is uploaded; the entire reader runs locally on your device.
-
Text-to-speech for any PDF. Read books, papers, manuals, and reports
aloud using the voices on your operating system, or opt into the Kokoro AI neural
voice for higher quality.
-
Build your own audiobook. Adjustable speed from 40 to 700 WPM,
automatic page turn, replay and skip, and live estimated time remaining.
-
Smart layout detection. Headers and footers are filtered out,
mid-sentence line breaks and hyphenation are joined, and headings populate a
clickable table of contents.
-
Made for long reading. Three themes (Dark, Sepia, Light), adjustable
font size and line height, in-document search, and notes you can export as text or
Markdown.
-
Private by design. No accounts, no uploads, no tracking pixels. Your
last five documents and reading positions stay in your browser's local storage.
Why Page Aloud
Most PDF readers either render a static page or read the entire document with no
structure. Page Aloud reconstructs paragraphs and sentences first, then reads them like
a human would. That makes it good for studying textbooks, getting through long PDFs on
a commute, or accessibility use cases where listening beats reading on a screen.
How it works
- Drop a PDF into the box above (or click to browse).
- Page Aloud parses the document with Mozilla PDF.js, all in your browser.
- Press play. The current sentence is highlighted as it's read aloud.
- Use the speed slider, table of contents, search, and notes panels as needed.
